As a Lay Counsellor or Mental Health Worker in Zimbabwe, often working in innovative programmes like the "Friendship Bench," your role is vital in bridging the mental health gap. Challenges can include combating stigma around mental illness and needing ongoing supervision.

3. Faith-Based Health Worker

As a Faith-Based Health Worker, you often operate through Faith-Based Organisations (FBOs) which play an increasingly momentous role in providing healthcare services in Zimbabwe, especially when state facilities are challenged (Scielo SA: Role of FBOs in Zimbabwe health). Your tasks can include direct health service provision within your faith community, health education, offering psycho-social and spiritual support, and responding to health crises. This work provides opportunities for evangelism but can also strain FBO resources.

4. Environmental Health Technician (EHT)

As an Environmental Health Technician (EHT) in Zimbabwe, your work is critical for public health. You conduct inspections of trading and non-trading premises, carry out disease surveillance, manage water points and sanitation projects, promote hygiene, and are involved in food safety (Bulawayo City Council EHT Vacancy, FAO Environmental Health Curriculum).
